West Bergholt Vintage car and Military Rally 2001

West Bergholt Essex

What a scorcher, the weather was superb (a bit too hot actually) and the crowd had plenty to look at with a huge display of Military and vintage vehicles on display.

The highlight was a searchlight Military tattoo which was well worth staying for, especially as the Red Devils Parachute display team did a night drop from 7000 ft. with their jump suits lit up with chemical lights and helmet lights to illuminate the canopy. This was spectacular as the first three jumpers with special chutes had a landing speed (before flaring out of course) of around 60 mph and the other three them stayed joined together until about 100 ft up and then split to land perfectly.

There were less than 30 Stationary engines on display but I think engines and tractors were only really there as added interest.

My Lister (yawn yawn) doing the usual.

A beautifully restored low tension Amanco

Driving an equally well restored pump.

Three nice Allis Chalmers Tractors, the one on the left is owned by Mick Bugg, the centre one by Colin Cracknell, I do not know the owner of the one on the right.
