36 Volt Generator

I have just purchased (March 2005) a 1942 36 Volt generator

I know very little about this generator at the moment but I will add any information as I receive it.

Lancashire Dynamo & Crypto, Acton Lane, Harlesden, originated as Crypto Electrical Co., formed in 1899 in Bermondsey to manufacture electric motors and generators. It moved to Acton Lane in 1913 and employed 175 in 1919. , the company then expanded into the development of testing equipment for the motor industry in the 1920's. In 1932 it merged with Lancashire Dynamo of Trafford Park (Manchester) The company then became Lancashire Dynamo and Crypto, and they wanted to expand their garage equipment interests; so the company was renamed CRYPTON. From this early involvement CRYPTON grew to play a prominent role in shaping the history of engine diagnostic equipment, soon establishing itself as a household name and with the CRYPTON brand becoming synonymous with the testing of engines.

 

Crypton is the recognised brand leader in Engine Diagnostics, Tuning and Emissions testing, with some 100 years experience in testing engines.

Formed in 1890 under the name of Newton's to manufacture electric motors and generators, the company then expanded into the development of testing equipment for the motor industry in the 1920's. The company was sold to Lancashire Dynamo and Crypto, who wanted to expand their garage equipment interests; the company was renamed CRYPTON.

From this early involvement Crypton grew to play a prominent role in shaping the history of engine diagnostic equipment, soon establishing itself as a household name and with the Crypton brand becoming synonymous with the testing of engines.

The role of engine diagnostics has evolved over the years, from its origins in tuning through to the fault finding, diagnostics and emissions control of today. Crypton has remained at the forefront of this development, providing innovative and quality products to meet the needs of the garage market.

Innovative development continues to be a cornerstone of the Company, which has ensured continuity of market share as the role of its products has changed with the developments in vehicle technology.
